Cutting Words

If I have one piece of advice for aspiring writers, it is to be prepared to cut words. I’ve heard some writers say that every word is like their baby and there is no way they could cut any of them. If the words don’t work then cut them. Your story and characters are stronger for removing what doesn’t work rather than keeping it in because of some strange attachment you have to each verb, noun, and adjective that you write.
