I made it into SPFBOX. In case you don’t know, SPFBO is the Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off contest that takes about a year to run its course. This is the tenth edition (thus the Roman numeral X). The books were chosen randomly from over five hundred entrants. My book was chosen 299 (only Dual Fires by J.L. Anderson was chosen after me). Believe me, it was a long scroll to find my book at the bottom of the list.
It is very exciting to be a part of this, but it is also a hurry-up-and-wait situation. I check my inbox and social media constantly to see if there have been any updates. I hope this mellows out as time goes on, but I doubt it until I’m either out of the contest or it is over.
I have already read Sailing to Redoubt by C. Litka and have bought Molten Flux by Jonathan Weiss, both of which are in my same judging group (Captured by Words). I look forward to reading more books from the list in between my book club books and my already sizable TBR.
As I look at my reads so far this year, I have to say that the independent books are my favorites so far. I highly recommend going through the SPFBOX list and finding your next read.
