The slow slow and Expensive Process

It has been a month since my book’s release and what have I learned? This is a slow process. Everything about being an author is slow. The writing process is slow. It takes a while to go through editing. It also takes time for people to consume your work. The time it takes for anyone to find your book is also slow.

There is a cottage industry that has grown up around self-publishing. Some of it is good and helps create a novel that is something as good (if not better) than what the book industry creates. But, some are latching onto naïve (and desperate) writers who are trying to get their work out in front of a larger audience. It doesn’t take long to figure out who the charlatans are (hopefully it doesn’t cost the writer too much money).

Part of the reason that I did not want to be self-published is due to the self-promotion part of this whole thing. I’m more than happy to do my part, but I just don’t know what that part is. Like I said, there are plenty of people happy to give advice or help for a small fee.
